Welcome to the 2nd annual edition of the George Trundle NZ Masters Tournament.  As usual it will be a 10 player round robin.

This year the field includes 2 grandmasters – Stuart Conquest and Darryl Johansen.  Other players include Stephen Solomon, Tim O’Reilly, Bob Smith, Mike Steadman, and Nic Croad

Three players still with a chance of an IM norm – Friday, September 28, 2007

After 7 rounds of the George Trundle IM NZ Masters tournament, three players can still make an IM norm – but not all three. The crunch game in round 8 ( Saturday ) is Reilly(AUS) – Smith(NZL). Reilly needs 1.5/2, while Smith needs 2/2. One of them must lose his chance. Bruce Watson (NZL) needs 1.5/2, and in round 8 must play one of the “heavies” – IM Stephen Solomon, with whom he drew in last years’s tournament.

IM Tournament – Round 7 Results/Standings – Friday, September 28, 2007

The George Trundle NZ Masters Tournament saw further changes among the leaders in Round 7. Three players still have a chance to make an IM norm.

GM Darryl Johansen ( AUS) is suddenly sole leader, on 5.5/7 – with a game against the other GM,  Stuart Conquest ( ENG ), in Round 8. Kiwi players played very well to hold their far higher-rated opponents in this round.
