The Auckland Chess Centre was first incorporated in 1871, read our history page for more details . We have our own clubrooms close to Mt Eden Park, after playing your tournament game, we have tea & coffee facilities in the clubhouse! We also offer an extensive library of chess books that members can borrow.

Subscriptions

Annual subscriptions are $120 for adults and $90 for juniors. However if you pay by the 22 of March they are discounted to $90 and $60 respectively.

Location

The Auckland Chess Centre’s clubrooms are situated at 17 Cromwell Street, Mt. Eden, Auckland.

Events

The Auckland Chess Centre meets weekly on Monday at 7:30pm and Friday nights ( Juniors ) from 6:30pm.

Monday nights are when members participate in our regular chess tournaments which commence from 7:30pm.

Throughout the year we run a series of competitions. Most are one game per night although some are rapid events with several games played over the evening. For a schedule of these tournaments please see our Calendar. Around half our events are Nationally rated.

We also participate in Interclub chess Tournaments between other Auckland chess clubs and host major tournaments.
